ApI (Alleanza per l'Italia = Alliance for Italy)
The ApI is a centrist
party, led by Francesco Rutelli, founded in 2009 as a split from the PD. It is
partly a continuation of the older Margherita. For the February 2013 elections,
most of the members joined the new centrist component
Centro Democratico within the center-left alliance, the party, however,
remaining largely autonomous.
For a rather recent party, it has already a
long history of symbols. The current symbol, fourth (since 2012) is a derivation
of the earlier ones: it shows on a light blue field a white oxeye over a small
ribbon in the national colours and the white party name and abbreviation. The
flag is white with the logo [1,2].
